Scenes and RP room tools
Any Snowcloak room can be configured as an IC scene by its owner or a moderator. Scene mode adds structured metadata, RP message modes, dice, turn order, temporary scene identities, and a server-side archive when the scene is finished.
Starting a scene
Open the room's member rail, select Room administration, and find Roleplay scenes.
Enable Use this room as an IC scene, then fill in any useful metadata:
- scene title;
- cast names;
- setting;
- content warnings;
- expected tone.
Save the scene metadata. The room remains the same permanent room; scene state is layered on top of it.
To advertise the room in Roleplay discovery, also configure Public discovery with:
- List this room in RP discovery;
- comma-separated tags;
- General, Mature, or Adult rating;
- an optional 720×300 PNG banner.
Normal public/private room access still applies. RP discovery does not make a private room public.
Message modes
An active scene replaces standard chat mode with:
- In character;
- Out of character;
- Action.
Select the mode beside the composer, or type one of these commands into the Snowcloak conversation:
/snowic message/snowooc message/snowemote action
Entering one without text changes the current composer mode. Text wrapped in ((double parentheses)) is also sent as OOC.
These commands belong in the Snowcloak chat composer, not the FFXIV chat box.
Server dice
Use /snowroll NdS, optionally followed by a modifier and label:
/snowroll d20/snowroll 2d6+3 perception/snowroll 1d100-10
The server produces the result and posts it to the room, so every participant sees the same roll.
Turn order
In room administration:
- Select the members who should take turns.
- Move them into the desired order.
- Select Start turn order.
The current turn is shown in the scene composer. A moderator can use Advance turn, while the current participant can enter /snowturn in the Snowcloak composer to finish their turn. The order wraps back to the beginning.
Use Update turn order when the cast changes, or End turn order to remove it.
Scene identities
While a scene is active, each member can select Edit scene identity in the member rail and set:
- a scene nickname;
- a supported FFXIV role icon ID;
- a short role label for that icon.
The member list and archived scene preserve the scene identity while still making the underlying Snowcloak identity available. Nicknames and role icons are cleared from the live room when the scene is finished.
Invitations with hooks
Owners and moderators can invite direct pairs from room administration. For an active scene, the invitation can include one of the inviter's current hooks.
The recipient sees the invitation in the Roleplay window and can Join room or Dismiss it. Private-room invitations also grant the access needed to discover and join that room.
Finishing and archiving
Select Finish and archive scene when the scene is complete.
Finishing:
- creates a server-side scene archive;
- preserves the scene metadata and messages for authorised participants;
- clears the live room transcript;
- resets the room so it can be used for another scene;
- clears temporary scene identities and turn order.
Archive access is snapshotted for the active room members when the scene finishes, plus people who authored messages in the scene. Joining the room later does not grant access to earlier scene archives.
Downloading scenes
In the room conversation header, select Download finished scene. Choose an available archive and download it as:
- plain text;
- Markdown.
The export includes timestamps, scene metadata, and the IC, OOC, or Action presentation of each message.
The separate Export room transcript option saves only the transcript currently loaded by your client. Use the finished-scene download for the authoritative completed scene.
