Settings, performance, and safety

An overview of your settings, in order of appearance.

General and Interface​

General settings cover everyday plugin behaviour and local notes. Interface settings control the main window, DTR entries, name colours, profile display, BBCode images, and safety controls.

An important one here if you visit venues or browse profiles is Render BBCode images - if you do not want profiles or venue descriptions to load external images, make sure this is disabled. Alt text will be rendered instead.

Safety and Content​

In this section you can:

  • allow Adult-rated RP content for the current UID;
  • block a UID;
  • review and unblock existing contact blocks.

Adult content is a per-UID opt-in, so you can maintain a "clean" alt if you want. Adult-rated profile fields and kink tags are only shared when both UIDs have enabled it. Field visibility, ratings, pairing, and directory consent still apply.

Blocking a UID:

  • removes the direct pairing;
  • prevents future discovery and pair requests;
  • prevents direct messages and mutual chat delivery;
  • hides blocked RP content and invitations.

It does not remove appearance syncing that occurs because both users remain in the same syncshell.

Notifications and Chat​

Notification settings control how Snowcloak presents plugin messages. Chat settings control the Snowcloak chat service, in-game log mirroring, DTR unread count, sounds, direct-message and mention notifications, syncshell auto-muting, vanity colours, and per-conversation choices.

Plugin Integrations​

The Plugin Integrations page lists companion plugins that have requested access to Snowcloak's public IPC. It shows whether each companion is loaded and registered, the capabilities it requested, its approved permissions, and its recent data activity.

Companions can request permission to read selected Snowcloak information, open a Snowcloak action, or exchange their own small data payloads. New companions receive no permissions automatically. See Companion plugin integrations before approving one.

Performance​

Performance settings control local limits for modded appearances. They include:

  • general budgets;
  • crowd behaviour;
  • automatic VRAM and triangle blocking;
  • statistics;
  • mod nullification;
  • local allow and block lists.

The Performance page in the main window shows tracked and visible pairs, estimated VRAM, triangle counts, and users currently held by local rules.

Automatic holds are local. They do not remove the pair or tell the other person to change their mods.

Use an allow rule deliberately

An allow-list entry can bypass a protection you configured for a reason. Check the reported VRAM and triangle data before overriding it.

Storage​

Storage settings control:

  • the Snowcloak cache folder;
  • maximum cache size;
  • eviction strategy;
  • Windows file compaction;
  • multithreaded transport compression;
  • cache monitoring and maintenance.

Stop storage monitoring before changing the folder. Moving the configured path does not automatically move old files for you.

The cache can contain more files than the most recent scan reports because Snowcloak also learns about files as the game loads them.

Transfers​

Transfer settings include:

  • download speed limit;
  • maximum parallel downloads;
  • separate transfer window;
  • transfer bars below players;
  • upload/download status text;
  • current and blocked transfers.

Reducing parallel downloads or setting a speed limit may help on constrained connections, but makes a new appearance take longer to complete.

Service Settings​

Service Settings contains:

  • character assignments;
  • secret-key management;
  • service connection settings;
  • Snowcloak backup and restore;
  • account-linked key controls where applicable.

Secret keys authenticate a UID. Treat an exported key or backup like a password: do not post it in screenshots, support channels, or logs.

Deleting a UID removes that UID's owned service data, pairing relationships, and room or syncshell membership as applicable. It does not delete other UIDs or the wider Snowcloak account.

Panic mode​

Use /snow panic to enable panic mode. Panic mode reverts all paired characters managed by Snowcloak, and holds new data applications until you disable it. This is broader and faster than pausing everyone individually, and can be used in the event of sudden massive lag, sudden loud sound spam, or someone walking in.

Use /snow panic off to resume pairs after solving the issue.

Advanced settings​

Advanced settings contain diagnostic and compatibility controls. Unless you have a good reason or are asked to in a support thread, leave these at their defaults.

When reporting a problem, avoid sharing secret keys, account credentials, private chat, private profiles, or other users' character data.
